the refuge learning to love Jesus, others, ourselves

life together

we believe passionately in community. we love our weekend gatherings and weekday gatherings because they are a place to gather people for food, laughter, conversation, biblical reflection, communion, art, music, and spiritual formation. we believe that the best way to heal, change, and grow is to be in close relationship with others on the journey. we try to find as many ways to eat, celebrate, and learn together as possible!
  • houses and places of refuge meet in different rhythms. see panel at the bottom of the page for the current gatherings and check the monthly calendar for what's happening this month.
  • we gather every saturday evening at the crescent grange at 6pm. in 2012 we will have a distinct rhythm to our saturday gatherings. the first saturday of the month is "celebrate", a community dinner together to celebrate stories of what God is doing in our lives, sobriety birthdays, and other milestones.   the second saturday is "consider", an evening of worship, biblical teaching and conversation, and communion.  the third saturday is "heal", an evening of music, communion, conversation centered around healing, relationship skills and transformation.   the fourth saturday is "express" and will be an experiential gathering centered on creative expression and the arts.  the fifth saturday of the month is "defend" and is centered on social justice issues.
  • we meet at 5pm for a simple dinner before our regular gathering on the second-fifth saturday of the month. friends take turns hosting the meal.
  • we have community meetings throughout the year, a chance for everyone to contribute to the cultivation of our community.
  • we serve dinner at joshua station, our friends who provide transformational housing for families in denver.
  • once a month we host a labyrinth walk at different locations in denver for a time of intentional spiritual reflection.
  • we partner with the crescent grange and transitions colorado for other community-focused events including a community garden in the summer.
  • we also host art workshops, creative arts sharing events, an annual camping trip, benefit concerts, and other groups and workshops throughout the year.

kids at the refuge

safe loving community is just as important for the kids at the refuge as it is for the adults!
